There's also always the option of switching the tiers to being "a donation" with nothing in return but announcing that would also make some people leave or switch to a lower tier, plus it wouldn't deal with the issue of the outstanding 'content debt.' Fair enough nobody wants to lose their main source of income but it really does reflect very badly on her as it's difficult to see it as anything but outright fraud now. Even if she doesn't need the money (though I don't see what else she could be living on really?) she's used to having it and her lifestyle relies on it. Both of those things will lead to a loss of patrons to some degree and she's probably scared of that happening. I honestly think she's mostly living (very well) off the Patreon income and that's why she won't pause it, and even updating occasionally with an excuse would mean 1) admitting that nothing's going to be forthcoming any time soon and b) reminding people that they signed up for this and got nothing. If you had the money you'd hire an assistant to deal with it, if you didn't you'd shutter the bloody thing to stop the undone work adding up continually like this. It's gone well past the point where poor health alone is an excuse for letting the rewards go unfulfilled for over two years. but at that point you'd pause the Patreon, or close it, or whatever. Click to expand.I could absolutely imagine consistent Patreon rewards being difficult for someone with "the mental ouchies" and intending to get things sorted and being afraid to face the reality of it all and ending up months behind.
